MAKE THE 10 RULES FOR HAPPINESS FAMILY HOME EVENING LESSON TONIGHT’S TOPIC
In order to teach the 10 Rules of Happiness family home evening lesson, it’s best to start out with a visual. First, begin by pulling out things in a small sack that you love and that make you happy. As they see what you are pulling out, ask what they think the lesson will be about. A few of the items I will have in my sack are; family picture, temple picture, can of cashews, popcorn, hand weight, and a picture of a cruise ship.
Then ask your family, “Don’t we all want happiness in our lives?”
Happiness does not always come from “things” like cashews. If you can believe that.
Really…. 🙂
Happiness actually comes from “becoming.”
Here is a little prize from Pres. McKay. As I read through it every single point seems to be a “thinker.” We will go through each of these rules and subsequently talk about what each one means. We will also talk about how they apply in our lives. You may need to dumb it down to make it understandable for the little ones. I just love how inspirational every one of these are if you really think about it.
THE GRIT OF THE 10 RULES OF HAPPINESS FAMILY HOME EVENING LESSON
Arthur R. Basset of the Seventy said this:
“Happiness comes to those of complete integrity, to those whose hearts are pure, and to those who totally integrate charitable inward feelings with kind outward actions…. Ultimately our judgment will be based more on what we have become than on what we have done. We can never become one with Christ and the Father until we first become one with ourselves.”
FOR YOUR VIEWING ENTERTAINMENT
Finally, I will be showing the following two videos to my family. We watched this one back HERE but it certainly can’t hurt to watch it again. I believe it’s important, especially in this technologically driven world, to stir the desire to “create” in our children.
My kids love watching these videos and this is another great one! Its called Finding True Happiness. Probably one of my favorites!!! In addition, it ties up your 10 Rules of Happiness family home evening lesson nicely.
