Family Home Evening – M&M Straw Game And The Pre-Existence
//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js
For FHE tonight, we are going to talk a little bit about the pre-existence, the Plan of Salvation, and how lucky we are to have each other as family. I will start by asking them,
“What is the best thing about our family?”
It will be interesting to see the answers everyone gives.
The Restoration of the gospel brought knowledge of the premortal existence. From the scriptures, we know of the Council in Heaven and the decision to send the sons and daughters of God into mortality to receive a body and to be tested. 2 We are children of God. We have a spirit body housed, for now, in an earthly tabernacle of flesh. The scriptures say, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16).” (President Boyd K. Packer, Prayer and Promptings, Nov. 2009)
I love these discussions because it usually brings out a lot of questions from the kids. We will hold a nice discussion about how each one of us will have hard times in life, and how important it is for us to help each other when those hard times come.
Then…we will play the M&M game.
Here is how it works:
The Object:
To transfer as many M&M’s from the bowl into your cup as you can, by sucking through a straw, before the person to your left rolls a double with the dice. Once a double is rolled, that person gets the big M&M bowl and begins sucking up M&M’s through their straw, while the person to their left rolls for a double. The game is over when all the M&M’s from the large bowl are gone, and each player gets to eat what he has in his cup!
Here is a fun little video to give you an idea….
So fun!
