Thanksgiving In Las Vegas 2024

Thanksgiving this year

We had a really great time this year in Las Vegas when we went to spend time with Lani & Kevin, my sister and brother in law. I wanted to share the fun things we did and provide recommendations for anyone planning a similar trip.

The best part about this trip was that my sweet brother in law is a pilot and he owns a private plane, which he flew out to San Diego to pick up our son who’s in the Navy and brought him out as a sweet surprise for us!!! What a treat!

Lani had a wonderful dinner, mostly prepped, and that’s just like her – the organized sister of the family!

Exploring the Las Vegas Strip:

We decided it would be a fun idea to run down to the strip and check out the new Bellagio Christmas display. The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens in Las Vegas features a holiday display every year that transforms the space into a winter wonderland! It was amazing!

The atmosphere was magical! Christmas music playing, lots of people taking pictures, and scenes from the classic poem “A Visit From St. Nicholas” made from breathtaking floral arrangements and festive decor.

And, of course, we had to wander outside to get a view of the spectacular fountains in the front and take a stroll along the strip with the million other people who had the same crazy idea to be there on Thanksgiving Day! Ha!

Rick’s face tells you just how much he loves walking through all the people on the strip, haha!

Off Strip Adventures:

The next day, we woke up and went to Lake Mead to walk the Train Tunnels trail, which was just a hop, skip, and jump from Vegas. It’s a great little trail to walk if you need to get some steps in and some fresh air.  This is a former railway they used to provide materials for building the Hoover Dam. Now, the train rails are dismantled, and it’s a nice, wide trail that you can walk or ride your bike.

It was a great way to work off some of our turkey dinner calories from the day before. 😉

After that, we snuck over to the mall for a little Black Friday shopping trip and then went to see the new movie, “Wicked.”

We loved it, and even though Rick isn’t a huge fan of musicals, he liked it, too.

I have decided that I’m going to document all of our trips through video on my YouTube channel.  Click below to see our Thanksgiving weekend in under two minutes.
