GRATITUDE – DAY 17: COLD WALKS
The best thing about having a dog is that he gets me out in nature. This is true especially in the winter when I usually go from the house to the car, from the car to the store, from the store to the school, from the school to the car, and then from the car back inside the warm house. I don’t enjoy the cold weather and if I didn’t have to go out walking, I don’t think I would make myself just for fun.
Have you heard that before? “If I didn’t have to, I probably wouldn’t.”
I have been thinking about that a lot lately. People with a lot of time on their hands don’t get as much done as those with full schedules. I believe a busy day is a good day and although it’s nice to have some down time (and we need that to stay balanced) I am happiest when I keep busy.
But I don’t think I’d ever make myself go for a walk in the snow and the cold.
That is, if I didn’t have Toby.
Who clearly needs the exercise! I am amazed as I watch him run back and forth how much energy he has!
Always coming back to check in with me.
Then he’s off again chasing the next thing…like a scent, or a sound, or nothing…checking every now and then so he knows exactly where I am.
Honestly, there’s so much beauty in winter!
I believe it has kept the winter blues away.
