FONDUE DINNER TRADITION…
It’s one of my favorite traditions from my childhood and one that I’ve carried on with my own family. It’s our fondue dinner tradition!
Typically we have fondue for a big holiday, like Christmas or the New Year. But we have been known to have it as a birthday dinner or even while on vacation just for fun!
You don’t really need a reason to have it. But if you want to spend some time together around the dinner table with your family, this is it, folks!!! I have THIS pot, but THIS ONE is great too.
Our menu usually goes like this. I will cut up beef and chicken ahead of time into bite-sized pieces and pull the tails off of shrimp.
Mom’s simple and delicious sweet n sour sauce is perfect for all three types of meat. But I make sure to also have some bbq sauce for the beef, and of course cocktail sauce for the shrimp.
Here is mom’s awesome sweet n sour sauce recipe:
Equal parts water, ketchup, sugar, and vinegar. I do one cup of each and that always makes PLENTY for us. Cook it down for a while to thicken it. Easy.
Every place setting has a small bowl or plate for their raw meat so as to avoid contamination. The fondue forks are the only forks that touch that plate.
I like to serve at least a few other side dishes so there is something to eat while you are waiting for your bites of meat to cook. For example, this year I made twice baked potatoes, green salad, and roasted vegetables.
I highly recommend you make a fondue dinner tradition for your family, too!
Happy New Year! If you are looking for some good dip recipes for the big party, then definitely check THESE out!
